About Coverup
Coverup captivates with its play on revelation and concealment. Light clay forms symmetrical arches, creating a balanced foundation. Delicate leaves, blooming flowers, and plump pea pods adorn the surface. Pink ribbons intertwine with these elements, adding whimsy. Sharp spikes contrast with softer forms, creating visual tension.
Vibrant glazes coat the sculpture’s surface. A glossy overglaze then enhances its luminosity. As a result, the piece gleams with an almost liquid-like appearance.
After glazing, the artist applies whisper-thin sheets of porcelain clay. These sheets define ”Coverup,” partially obscuring underlying details. Consequently, they embody the artwork’s theme of covering and revealing.
Some areas remain exposed, while others hide beneath veils. This interplay invites exploration of hidden layers and intricate details.
Ultimately, Coverup masterfully balances opposing elements. Structure meets fluidity, hardness encounters softness, and exposure confronts protection. Thus, the sculpture challenges viewers to uncover its many facets.
